👀 Eyeing this butter dish, 🍩 trying an acne device, 📱 buying a phone case
Volume 3 of Eyeing, Buying, and Trying is here!
Hi Geezers!
Welcome to volume 3 of Eyeing, Trying and Buying — where I take you behind the scenes of what I’m looking at and testing and purchasing! As always, it’s a mix of things I am buying with my own money and PR packages that brands send to me. It’s not always a rave review—I was sent those viral “sweatpant jeans” and Instagram followers got to see the try on…it was a no from me, dog.
Here’s the first Eyeing, Buying, Trying we did in February:
And here’s Vol 2 from March:
Let’s get into it!
EYEING
(1) Sereniby Air Purifier (I have a 15% off deal in my Flagship!): What’s good enough for a baby is good enough for me, and so this air purifier that’s good enough for a baby is, certainly, good enough for me (and would cover the entire space of my apartment). I first heard about this thing being a cut above during the LA fires, so I’ve been eyeing it since. Somehow don’t think my small collection of rubber trees is cutting it, and New York air does leave something to be desired.
(3) The Vego Garden Advanced Elevated Garden Bed ($450): One of those potential new hobbies for my summer in the city? Just imagining it set up on my little balcony, growing cute flowers and maybe a VEGETABLE? An HERB?
(10) Butter Dish from Big Night Brooklyn ($60): I want everything at Big Night and we’re starting with this Sophie Lou Jacobsen butter dish. This is a warning — don’t go to Big Night IRL if you’re trying to save some money. Maybe don’t visit their website either. Everything there is add-to-cart worthy.
TRYING
(2) We’re calling these THE SHORTS. Here’s the review that set the Geezers on a shopping spree. Plus? $25. I ordered a few different washes!
(4) The Dot by ZIIP ($199 but we have a deal in Flagship!): ZIIP sent me their new device to try because we partner with them. This device is called the Dot and it uses micro-current and nano-current tech to treat zits at the source. It’s kind of like the Halo Lite. The Dot sounds intense, but it honestly just tingles. You do a 90-second treatment: first it treats the blemish, then it calms the area. It doesn’t hurt, and it costs less than emergency cortisol shots from the derm (which I used to get all of the time in a pre-2020 world).
(5) A Potential DOTY? The Linen-Blend Mini Dress ($30): Every year I find a “Dress of the Year” at Old Navy, an inexpensive dress that everyone seemingly loves, and this year I am searching for the 4th annual. Could this little linen blend mini be it?
(9) Zenni Sunglasses ($15, more if you add an Rx): Bought these to try on; a new lens shape and color for summer! Feeling especially GenZ in these (I’m 37 and not delusional; no one is mistaking me for a 23-year-old no matter how TikTok-ified my sunglass game is).
BUYING
(6) Maxcimal Silky Red Lipstick in Brick Red ($25): I am obsessed with MAC’s Dare You lipstick, and have been wearing it since my friend Katie Heaney wrote about it for The Hairpin in 2016. Phoebe Waller-Bridge wears it on Fleabag, and it is perfect on her. But guess what? MAC discontinued Dare You and honestly, how Dare They? (I have made this joke before). I bought 6 tubes on Amazon in the fall when I heard the news. This is not just *a* favorite lipstick, it is THE ONLY LIPSTICK COLOR I will wear. Many people have told me to go to one of those places that can color match pigment and make you a personalized stick of even the hardest-to-find shades, but I am a glutton for punishment and I want to try 6,000 lipsticks until I can find one I like just as much. I bought a tube of Brick Red and so far it’s fantastic. Not exactly the same, but still great.
(7) Dior Foundation ($43): I recently made the switch to iTCosmetics CC cream to Dior, and I don’t think I’m going back. If I prime my skin with this product, it looks especially good.
(8) Personalized Phone Case from Baublebar (Use code GEETHANKS15 through 4/22): I love this phone case! I had it on my last phone, but then upgraded and of course, with the phone went the case. Using my code to get myself a new one. Exactly the same colors, too.

The linen blend square neck crop from Old Navy is similar to the dress and SO so so good.
