A mid-Olympics catch up!

Well hello!

I haven’t sent an email since the last day of Prime Day, for no other reason than July is exhausting.

Was it always exhausting? No. We used to be children with summer vacation and then we grew up and Jeff Bezos invented a July shopping holiday out of thin air. What’s a girl to do when she’s chosen a career in shopping? I hope you all found things you wanted and needed in last month’s many competing deals and sales — and thank you for trusting me to guide the way!

Now we welcome the Sunday of the year, aka August, with open arms. I am writing to you knee deep in truly any Olympic event that’s on Peacock. I cried this morning when Jordan Chiles found out she took home bronze on the floor. I cried last night when Noah Lyles won gold and immediately went to hug his mom in the stands. I cried when Alex Walsh got DQ’d from the one event she came to swim in Paris and swam off the lanes, looking stunned. It’s highs and lows, and I experience it all in my best loungewear on the couch.

I gasped when I watched Simone Biles’ parents adjust their neck fans because it was in that moment that I realized I may have been the first person to recommend neck fans in an influencer space? Is Simone’s mom, Nellie, a Geezer? Not that I know of. But does this prove there’s somewhere between three and eleven degrees of separation between me, a neck fan, and Nellie Biles? Almost certainly. What’s good for the GOAT is good for the gander!

Did you know we have an Olympian in our community? Melissa Humana-Paredes has been a Geezer since the beginning, and she has been dominating for Canada in beach volleyball in Paris this week. If you missed her match against USA today, pleaseeee catch it on replay. It was a nail biter. She also told me why she chooses to wear a one shoulder swimsuit top to compete (“it frees up your serving arm!”) I swear, these athletes! Go Melissa and Brandie! We’re cheering you on!
