I would LOVE if you did thrifted/secondhand stuff somehow!! I'm attempting to do a no-new-buy year (very small thing I can do to protest and deprive the corporate overlords)
Yes to all of this, plus any tips for styling vintage finds that aren't "spray paint it white and stuff it with match sticks." For example, I have some cool wooden cigar boxes, but I'm still looking for a functional/interesting way to use them.
I love thrifting and secondhand! My home and closet are full of secondhand treasures. I also own a secondhand clothing store and we only carry sizes XL and above!!!
I LOVE this!!! Thrifting brings me back to my favorite version of myself in my teens and early twenties back in the late 90s/early 00s. I remember when we first got a Savers and it was such a big deal. It felt at the time like the crème de la crème of thrifting. And then in the 2010s I had kids and the only thing I could prioritize was convenience (Target) and thrifitng was way to overwhelming for this real overstimulated mama. I want to get back into thrifting as my kids are older now and I’m newly divorced and need some new good hobbies. Would love tips and tricks of thrifting today!
Also, hot question…. Next to thrifting, antiquing is my jam and we’ve got antique malls galore in MN. I love the glassware like you have in the picture and own lots of it. What I’ve been wrestling with lately is, is all of this lead based and am I killing myself and my kids even more prematurely when I buy it all? 😂😂 these are the intrusive thoughts that haunt me.
I have also gotten way into thrift and secondhand shopping, FB marketplace, ebay hunting, Etsy vintage searches, antique shops, flea markets and estate sales over the last few years. Probably half the furniture, art and decor in my house is secondhand (or made by local artisans!). Also getting really into secondhand clothes shopping — it scratches the itch I have when I see new fashion that I want to buy, with an added element of the excitement of the hunt to find something similar/equivalent. My last purchases were adorable placemats and cloth napkins with a spring flowers embroidery (it looked hand-stitched!), tiny little beer mug shot glasses, an ornate candy dish, a beautiful plaid blazer, and an oversized blue and white striped men’s button down, for me to wear in an easy breezy style.
I’ve never received so many comments since shopping this way, mostly compliments to how cool/unique my clothes or decor is, because it IS! It doesn’t look mass-produced (though maybe it was at its inception??) and it often looks different than what you see every day, and I feel like it really reflects my tastes and personality.
Thrifting is my hobby! My entire outfit right now is thrifted - '90s Gap 100% cotton wide leg jeans, Garnet Hill 100% merino sweater, Quince 100% cotton oversize cable knit cardigan, leather boots. A lost/most of the furniture and homegoods at home are thrifted too. I have been able to get so many incredible, quality and/or vintage items over the years that I would never have been able to afford new.
I feel like the seed for this was planted with Sally's hoodie journey - looking forward to this next chapter, whatever you decide to do! :)
YAYAYAYAY!! We must plan our Midwestern thrift extravaganza!! I LOVE everything about this and can't wait to see where it goes. Gee Thanks, Just Thrifted It 😎
I've recently developed a thrifting addiction and I am obsessed, and am really trying to have a "look secondhand first" for just about everything. Clothes are my thrift of choice, but I feel myself drifting over to the housewares section more and more. I'd love to see/engage with any thrifting content you give!
All for it!! I love thrifting, I love seeing what other people find! (And agree with other comments that the timing is great for folks who are working on boycotting some companies in 2025 and moving through purchasing more intentionally)
Absolutely love this, I’m also finding thrifting (and the thrill of the chase) so uplifting right now. I would love to see tips on how individuals are using thrifter items in their homes that I may not have thought of
If you created a store to sell your thrift finds, I would definitely buy them! I love thrifted housewares, especially milk glass, but I despise doing the thrifting myself! Lol!
I would love some tips. I am a little overwhelmed by thrift stores so I don’t know where to start but would love to stop buying everything new! I’ve started a little in antique stores and kids consignment stores but want to get the confidence to branch out. Where to start? Goodwill? What’s the best/worst thing to get second hand?
Would love any interpretation especially moving into more buycotting of corporate entities starting with Fridays economic blackout. This feels like it is perfectly and deliberately timed and oh so welcomed.

I love this idea! I’ll take all the thrifting content (tips, tricks, thrift sales etc.) please and thank you!!

Would love to hear about your favorite thrift stores in the NYC suburbs!
Here for it all!! Whatever you feel works for the Thrift side of GeeThanks!, I know we’ll all love it!
